Question: Does age affect the survival of (follow-up status) of MI patients?
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control (2023), about 805,000 people in the United States suffer from heart attacks each year. The probability of occurrences of myocardial infarctions increases as individuals get older. The rise in heart attacks in relation to age is primarily due to factors such as plaque buildup in the arteries over time. Other age-related factors, such as changes in heart muscle and decreased elasticity, play a significant part in the increased risk of myocardial infarctions. As the chances of heart attacks rise as individuals age, the chance of survivability decreases significantly.
