Starting with the Financial Statement you selected, identify an opportunity for the organization to improve its financial status.  Be creative.  Based on your research, you may find the organization could: 1. Build or acquire another facility, 2. Enhance or start a new service line (example: Invasive Cardiology, Sports Medicine, Weight control programs), 3. Close a location or service line, or 4. Something else…

Goal

Write a 1-page proposal discussing the reasons why you selected your initiative.  Be sure to include:

• Any relevant funding assumptions or needs (is the balance sheet prepared for this endeavor?).
• Identify Reimbursement, volumes, and assume payer mix.
  • You will not likely find actual data on payer mix or reimbursement rates.
  • This is where you get creative.
• Present a proposed budget and associated break-even analysis.
• Be sure to document any risks and important assumptions.
• Identify how success would be measured (what metrics will you watch) and will you use any internal or external benchmarks?  What are they?

2. Create and submit a well-researched paper and associated spreadsheets in the appendix.
   • Use APA 6^thedition for citation.
   • The paper may be any length, so long as it accomplishes the goal.
