The healthcare industry is experiencing cash flow
issues due to loss of jobs, loss of health insurance, decreased reimbursement
for services, increased audits by Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party
payers, as well as the rising costs of patient care technology.

Health information managers, as well as other
health information professionals, play an important role in the revenue cycle.  Create a 10-slide PowerPoint presentation on
ways that heath information professionals can help improve cash flow by
contributing to the revenue cycle.  Think
about professionals such as coding professionals, health information managers,
billers, and release of information specialists.  As an example:  Claims must be filed within “x” number of
days.  If a claim is not submitted in a
timely fashion, the insurance company can deny the claim, and the facility
would have to write off the charges.  So,
you could include a slide that references timely submission of claims.  You should be able to find plenty of ideas
and information on the internet with a little research.
