Nursing 639 focused Research Table of Literature Review Guidelines and Template
(Due Week 5: Sunday on or before 11:59 pm)
Research Table Planning and Logistics:
Plan ahead to secure current research studies(published within the past five years) from the library.
Focus on nursing educational research studies for the research table and review of the literature.
Review the assignment guidelines and research table template for the research table in Blackboard.
The research table template includes the research title page, research table components, summary/synthesis, and References list(APA format).
The research table assignment must be submitted as one WORD document via SafeAssign in Blackboard.
After the research table is graded, make the changes in the research table, and add the additional eight research studies to the table. The research table is the foundation for the proposal’s review of the literature.
The research table will be an appendix to the nursing educational research proposal.
Research Table Requirements
The research table assignment is the initial step for the review of the literature required in your nursing educational research proposal. The Research Table assignment guidelines and rubric guide its development. The literature review concentrates on nursing educational research studies. The full research table will consist of at least sixteen (16) or more nurse authored research studies published in peer-reviewed nursing education or research publications.
For this Week 5 Assignment – you must submit a research table with at least eight (8) research studies. You may have to read as many as 5 articles to conclusively identify one for research table inclusion.
Research Table Required Components: Review the research table assignment rubric for the components and grading criteria for each column in the research table.
Research Table: Logistics Your research table references should begin with the most recent to oldest reference (according to the years of publication). If there are two or more references published in the same year, cite alphabetically, according to the first author’s last name.
The research table template is on the next page.

Research Table Summary and Synthesis Example
In summary, there were ______research articles reviewed with publication dates ranging from _____ to _____. There were _____ quantitative studies (Reference citations),
___ qualitative studies (Reference citations), and ____systematic reviews (Reference citations).
__________nursing research studies were part of the 16 reviewed research studies(Reference citations). Make a conclusion about the number of nursing research studies.
Describe the review of the literature’s strengths and limitations to support conclusions. Multiple reference citations may support the conclusions. Review the studies’ location, the study’s timeframe, sampling, instruments, and data analysis/results. Make your own conclusions about the research studies’ strengths and limitations to support the nursing education research proposal.
An example of ONE paragraph: The research table references should support the research proposal.
Current nursing research supports the incorporation of diversity, equity, and inclusion(DEI) into nursing curriculum (research table citations). The _______research studies focused on the DEI learning need assessments of nursing students(research table citations). Although there is support for DEI incorporation into nursing curriculum, educational interventional research was limited to ______nursing education studies(reference citations). There were no interventional studies concerning implicit bias education for nursing students.
Conclusion example:
The nursing educational research proposal has potential to generate new nursing knowledge concerning implicit bias educational interventions for undergraduate nursing education. Therefore, the research proposal ‘s purpose will evaluate the impact of focus groups in an undergraduate community health course on nursing students’ implicit biases.
Please note for your analysis and reflection:
This hypothetical nursing research proposal reflects a quantitative nursing educational research study. It will be an interventional nursing educational study with a pre-and post-test design.
Conceptual Framework: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Framework with a focus on implicit bias
Independent variable: Focus groups (teaching strategy) in an undergraduate community health course.
Dependent variable: nursing students’ implicit bias. It will be measured by a valid and reliable Implicit bias instrument before and after the focus group intervention.
