Physics 1010 Lab 06 Worksheet
1. PURPOSE
State the purpose of the experiment(s) you did in this lab. The purpose should NOT be a learning goal but a statement of what you set out to measure.
2. EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE
Include a “selfie” showing, yourself, the date and time of the experiments and the complete experimental set-up. (MANDATORY)
Identify and name all experimental variables (should be consistent with experimental data).
State if you followed the lab manual procedure exactly or specify if there is any procedure done other than in the one stated in the lab manual. (Note: You do not need to rewrite the experimental procedures that are the same as the ones written in a lab manual)
3. EXPERIMENTAL DATA
Data should be complete and neatly presented in well-organized tables, lists or charts.
All data with a value should have a proper unit (SI unit) and variable name.
When necessary, data should be displayed in a graph. Graphs should have a title with each axis labeled and the unit indicated.
4. DATA ANALYSIS
Clearly explain what analysis was done.
Explain how the analysis was done (what physics theory/principles/concepts were used?)
5. RESULTS
Clearly state your measured and accepted values where applicable. Include 90% confidence intervals where applicable.
Any calculation with a proper equation must be clear and readable.
If necessary, results from calculation should be displayed in a graph and/or summarized in a table.
6. ERRORS AND ERROR ANALYSIS
Explain error analysis if applicable.
Discuss sources of error and tell if they are random or systematic.
7. DISCUSSION and CONCLUSIONS
Convincingly describe what physics principles were demonstrated by the experiment.
Discuss whether your results are reasonable in light of your error analysis and comparison with any physics principles.
Suggest changes in experimental design to improve your results.
