How does Scenario 2 approach the study of wellness through the four lenses, and how could their insights be useful to you?
Scenario 1Michele’s definition of wellness has changed a lot from the beginning of this term. Before taking this class she thought wellness was just about a person’s health. Now that she has taken this class she knows that wellness is way more than that. She never knew that wellness had anything to do with a person’s mental wellness, emotional wellness, or physical wellness. This class has taught her so much that she did not know about wellness and she most definitely looks at things a lot differently now.
The four lenses help a person understand an issue in wellness. They help you understand who the person is as a person but also help you understand them if they have issues in wellness. The four lenses also help you understand if that certain issue in wellness has any type of effect on society. She personally thinks the four lenses create a whole new way of seeing wellness. When you look at the four lenses and break down an issue in wellness, you get a much better idea of what that issue is and where it all started. Wellness in the future can be interesting. She wonders if a lot of people are like she was and do not understand that wellness has to do with a lot more than if you are sick or not. She hopes in the future wellness becomes a well-talked-about subject so more people can understand what wellness actually is. What she learned in this course she will take with her everywhere she goes. She was never one to judge someone for anything, to begin with, but when she sees people out in public and see other people judging someone for some kind of issue in wellness she might just talk to that person and explain what she has learned in this class.
Scenario 2 Throughout the course, Courtney’s definition of wellness has changed to include other aspects of wellness that she hadn’t originally considered, like environmental for example. The four lenses approach the study of wellness with respect to individuals and society by taking every aspect of wellness into consideration. There isn’t one lens that is more important than another lens, they all play a part for an individual and society and they all have a role and an impact in their own ways.
The implications of wellness in the future all boils down to the individual or society. If every aspect of wellness isn’t going to be considered when making decisions at a singular level or societal level then imbalance is going to form and cause problems later on. Studying wellness through the lenses will help her live a more balanced life in the future and gives her the tools to take a step back and analyze what’s missing if she doesn’t feel balanced when it comes to her own overall wellness.
