Professional Interest
My professional interest is to become an Infectious Disease Epidemiologist. An Infectious Disease Epidemiologist focuses on the study of the incidence and prevalence of the spread of diseases within the population by understanding factors that contribute to the outbreak and monitoring and creating intervention strategies or programs to prevent and control the public health issue (Columbia Mailman School of Public Health, 2021).
My second professional interest is to become a Clinical Epidemiologist. A Clinical Epidemiologist focuses on consulting and educating healthcare professionals and departments on communicable diseases control and prevention. Furthermore, this field includes the study and the research of diseases that results in an outbreak so that they can have a strategic plan and protocol for control and prevention (Schulich, 2021).
My Short-term and Long-term Goals
My short-term goal is to study and take the certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiologist Exam (CIC). This certification will take place 4 months after I acquire my master’s degree with the focus of gaining new skills and knowledge on infectious disease control and prevention.
My long-term goal is to continue on the path of gaining new experience, skills, and knowledge so that I can attain a stable job and position as my desired professional interest. This includes doing a certification program in data analysis and pursuing a Doctoral Degree in Public Health.
