Read the information about the Capital One Data Breach under Engage section of the Week 5 Module. For this week’s discussion, you will find another data breach case prosecuted under the CFAA that interests you. Answer the following questions.
1. Find another example of a data breach which is prosecuted under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. Provide a brief description of the legal case.
2. Be VERY clear about the agencies involved in the breach investigation and the specific areas of the CFAA that were violated.
3. How was the CFAA used to convict in the case you picked? How does it compare with the Capital One breach? What’s your position regarding the conviction (focusing on narrow vs. broad interpretations of CFAA- Refer to Kosseff’s Chapter 5).
