W6: Historical Role Play

Week 6 Readings: U.S. History, Chapter 14 and Chapter 15For this week’s debate, I want you to choose a person from the Civil War era. You can be a Northern woman, a fugitive slave, a freedman (or woman), a conductor on the Underground Railroad, or a Southern politician. The person you choose can also be a Confederate or Union soldier. Do some research before you choose a persona. I want you to talk about the American Civil War (ACW) from their perspective. You can talk about any aspect of the Civil War, but you must look at it from your character’s perspective. In other words, you are no longer living in the 21st century, but have been transported back to the 1860s.Below are some historical figures from the Civil War you may choose from. You may also choose a figure not listed from this time period. You should use memoirs, personal letters, and other writings to get you into the mood for your character.
