Assignment Brief: Analysing Framework Agreements
This assignment requires you to consider the below extract from an industry news
journal and write a detailed report on the risks and benefits of Frameworks
Agreements.
You will consider this in relation to other procurement strategies including Partnering
Arrangements.
Procurement organisation Scape Group has appointed Robertson as lead contractor
to the Scottish lot of a £7 billion national construction framework.
With a total value of £750 million, the Major Works Scotland framework includes
projects such as regeneration schemes, schools, universities and colleges, hospitals,
central government buildings and housing ranging between £2m to £20m.
Willmott Dixon, Wates and Lendlease have been appointed as lead contractors for the
other four national frameworks, which has the highest total value of any framework
ever procured in the UK.

Your report will cover the following:
1. Consider the likely issues and wider implications to the contractor of being
awarded this framework.
2. Consider the risks and benefits to the Client and the contractor of this
agreement.
3. Consider the wider implication on the industry resulting from these high value
frameworks.

4. Consider alternative ways in which these works could have been procured.
5. Provide reasoning as to why this method was chosen and your opinion on the
merit of this.
General Requirements
Your assignment is to be produced in A4 printed format and should comprise no more
than 2,000 words. This assignment contributes to 50% of the module assessment.
A comprehensive reference list must be included. References should be made to
all information sources used and these should be in the Harvard referencing style.
Submissions made after 4.00pm on the due date will be deemed to have been
received the following day and will therefore be capped in accordance with the
University’s regulations regarding late submission.
