CONCERT REPORT GUIDELINES
Normal semesters the requirement is to attend two live concerts, but obviously this isn’t possible at present.  Additionally, in lieu of a live concert I am having students write on a youtube concert.  One good thing is you don’t have to go anywhere and it’s free.
Some of you may be too young to know who Elton John is, but he is one of the most brilliant composers of rock/pop music and a great entertainer.  I chose this one because it features one of the greatest symphonies in the world.  Please read the requirements below and ignore the ones that don’t apply like proof of attendance for one.

Double space after the title and begin your paper.

REPORT CONTENT

Begin your report with an introductory paragraph telling the reader who performed, where and when, and what kind of ensemble was featured at the concert.  Was there a conductor or soloist?

Follow the introductory paragraph with detailed descriptions of at least 3 pieces keeping in mind you must write 500 words.  MAKE SURE TO STATE THE NAME OF EACH PIECE.  Tell the reader what you found to be most striking or important about the piece.  Concentrate on musical matters only.  Do not discuss what you did before the concert, what you ate there, etc.  Talk about how well the performers presented the music. Were there any featured instruments?  Did you like or dislike the piece and why?  Try and incorporate concepts and terms you have learned in class if you can.

End your report with a concluding paragraph.  What were your overall impressions of the concert?  What piece was your favorite and why?  Would you attend a concert like this in the future?  How well do you think the musicians performed? These are only suggestions to give you ideas.
