Following the introduction of a new law, fox-hunting with packs of hounds has been banned in the United Kingdom since June 2005. You are a psychologist who is interested in developing a Likert-style scale to assess the attitudes of British people towards fox-hunting. Your research specifically investigates whether there are differences in attitudes towards fox-hunting between men and women, and between people who live in urban and rural areas. For this assignment, you are asked to complete the following tasks related to the development of a psychometric measure to assess attitudes to fox hunting.Task A:Develop an initial pool of items designed to measure attitudes to fox-hunting.Describe the processand provide a sample of 5 or 6 example items. You must clearly explain the principles underlying the generation of these items. You do NOT have to administer any of these items to participants.
Task B: Explain how you would pilot and improve the initial item pool for your attitude scale.
Task C: Explain how you would test your finished attitude scale for reliability and validity.Task D:Let’s presume that you have produced a scale that is reliable and valid, and therefore able to be used for a piece of research.
You now need to design a study that looks at the effect of gender and area of residence on attitudes towards fox-hunting. Please provide a description of your study. You must include at least two appropriate hypotheses, appropriate details of the design of your study (including factors/independent variables, the dependent variable, and how these will be operationalised), and full information about how you would collect and analyse yourdata.You will summarise your work in a poster and 6 minute oral presentation. First, you should provide an Introduction that contextualises your study and includes at least two hypotheses.
