Canmake Inc. has developed and used an
in-house ERP system for over ten years. The system has been developed to ensure
that the business’s manufacturing and logistics operations are supported, and
data is integrated. Recently, Canmake Inc. decided to implement an SAP-ES
system as the business grows and operations become more complex. John, senior
production manager at Canmake Inc.’s Sydney plant, believes that “Canmake
Inc.’s SAP-ES system will streamline the overall Aluminum can manufacturing
processes, which includes Sourcing Suppliers, Sheet Preparation, Shape Drawing,
Sheet Cutting and Punching, Trimming, Cleaning and Decorating, Filling or
Finish.” In addition, Canmake Inc. orders semi-finished materials as required
from a large number of suppliers. The additional expectations for the SAPES are
to generate detailed reports like customer spending, purchases and products
sold. However, Trevor, the CIO, is still unsure if SAP solutions and services
are believed to be the ‘best-fit’, with Canmake Inc.’s other existing systems
and to facilitate all operations and meet Canmake Inc.’s overall business
strategy. “I wish we had a better change management plan and execution and
better architecture support.”

on-premise, cloud, and hybrid, were presented to the CIO. Compare and justify
