Either while viewing the video, or after, complete and upload a hand-written chart summarizing the effects. The column and row headers should follow the form of the image below. The arrows are shorthand for “increasing”. Fill in each remaining box with “increases”, “decreases” or “stays the same” or similar phrases.

2 # Chapter 4: Atmospheric Circulation Videos

Next, this video derives the 3-cell model of atmospheric circulation, which generalizes how the air in our atmosphere is moving.

If you want a quick review of the initial generation of the 3-cell model you can watch this video, but it doesn’t contain anything new (just a more concise generation of the atmospheric circulation).

If you watched that video for review, it continues with the jet stream and ITCZ here.

Relating to the videos showing atmospheric circulation, start with a single blank sheet of paper and recreate the finished atmospheric circulation model. It’s fine to refer to your notes or the videos. When you are done showing all 3 cells, H and L pressure, wind patterns, jet streams, take a picture and upload your drawing.

As now for this assignment, start with a single blank sheet of paper and recreate the finished atmospheric circulation model. It’s fine to refer to your notes or the videos. When you are done showing all 3 cells, H and L pressure, wind patterns, jet streams, take a picture and upload your drawing.

3 # California Islands

California itself is named after a mythical island. Although it might seem culturally like it’s separated from the other 49 states, it is not. It does, however, have a number of islands offshore. Choose one and find an interesting story or detail about it online to share with the class. You can use this list to find islands off our coast or the coast of Baja California. In at least a few sentences that are your own words, share what you have found about one of the islands. Make sure to let us know where it is. Also, include a link to whatever online article you use to get your information. Do NOT cut/paste from an article, but present your own summarized version.
