an average of 8 machinists per hour arrive seeking parts. At present, the part center is staffed by only one clerk who takes an average of 6 minutes to handle each request. Assume Poisson arrival and exponential service time situation. The part center opens 8 hours per day. Since each machinist produces $12 worth of goods per hour, each hour that a machinist spends at the tool center costs the company $12. The company is deciding whether it is worthwhile to hire (at $9 per hour) another clerk (the same service rate) or not. Should another clerk be hired?
