Your first step is to do some basic research on how and where the topic of climate-related displacement is being addressed within the UNFCCC and beyond. To get started, you should be looking at the key institutions within the UN system, including but not limited to the UNFCCC Warsaw International Mechanism on Loss and Damage, the Task Force on Displacement, and the UN High Commissioner on Human Rights.

1.What are the key international institutions and organizations that address climate displacement? What do each of them do? What are their mandates and what important actions have they taken? (10 points)

2.What are your country’s primary interests as related to climate-related displacement? (i.e. how does it want the UNFCCC to address this issue or not – see Calliaria et al 2020 for help getting started here. (10 points)
