Assignment Background Information
DeVry University has decided to enhance security byinstalling high-definition IP cameras throughout its campus network. After evaluating different products, theCisco 4300 Video Surveillance camera was chosen as DeVry’s standard.
DeVry recognizes that the additional camera traffic, alongwith its management, will require a major upgrade to the network infrastructure. Aphased project was created to enable NETW206 students to design and implementthe network infrastructure within a single session. The four project phases are:
1. Phase 1 (Week 1): Design Network SwitchingInfrastructure
2. Phase 2 (Week 3): Standardize NetworkConfigurations
3. Phase 3 (Week 5): Network Assessment
4. Phase 4 (Week 7): Extending the Network
Phase 1 Assignment
As the network engineer, you have been asked to design thenew network switching infrastructure that fully supports both the existing datatraffic and the additional camera traffic according to the following requirements.
Design Requirements
Your network design should address each of the followingrequirements:
1. Must comply with the Cisco hierarchical designmodel;
2. Must provide physical, as well as logical,redundancy;
3. Must integrate 1Gb uplinks;
4. Must segment camera IP traffic from the existingnetwork for security reasons;
5. Must support a minimum of 150 cameras;
6. Must utilize PoE for cameras to avoid the use ofpower bricks or power injectors;
7. Must provide sufficient bandwidth for full HD support;and
8. Must minimize rack space.
Deliverables
You are required to prepare a detailed network report foryour manager at the next scheduled meeting.
Your report should:
1. Thoroughly describe how your network designsupports each of the requirements above to enable DeVry to take full advantageof the Cisco 4300 IP cameras.
IMPORTANT: A report template is provided beginningon the next page and you must use it to submit yourassignment. Before submitting yourassignment, delete the first three pages of this document containing the instructions.
Your submitted assignment should begin with the Title Pageand only contain your report.
