respond to Kyle Manage Discussion EntryIn the ACA, there are three categories of state Marketplace/Exchanges. Identify the three categories and provide a summary of each.
The ACA laid out a system of providing healthcare insurance for people, or better yet making access to healthcare available, though marketplaces or exchanges. There are virtual areas where people can turn to access what programs are available to them , in their state. The availability of these programs were set up in individual state locations. Each state had the option to host their own exchange or the federal government could manage it. This allowed for some individuality as to what was made available to the residents of each state, but more importantly, it allowed states to have more control over how much federal government oversight and involvement was Including the levels of care available, companies hosting the policies and more.
The method used to categorize these levels of care were linked to metals.
The exchanges used are the state-based exchange (SBE), federally facilitated exchange (FFE), bifurcated exchanges, and supported state-based exchanges.
The differences in these models of exchanges are who controls them from an administrative aspect. State-based is controlled by the state, the federally facilitated exchange is run by the federal government, the bifurcated exchanges are run by both the state and the federal government, and the state supported exchange is when the state supports what the federal government is providing. Similar to having the state manage a federal program. (Understanding Marketplace Health Insurance Categories, n.d.)
