Respond to post,
Pneumonia is a type of acute respiratory infection of the lungs impairing the exchange of gas (World Health Organization (WHO), 2021). Pneumonia causes inflammation in which pus and fluid fill the alveoli limiting oxygen intake and making breathing difficult. Globally, pneumonia is the single major infectious cause of death in children killing about 808 694 children in 2017(WHO, 2021). Pneumonia may be caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, or aspiration of foreign matter. The risk factors include chronic illness and debilitation, bacterial or viral respiratory infections, chronic respiratory disease, immunosuppressive therapy, smoking, and malnutrition. Other risk factors are asplenia immunodeficiency, and Native American descent, African American descent, or Alaskan Native or a socially underprivileged individual. The symptoms of pneumonia can be mild to severe, including cough, fever, chills, and breathing difficulty (American Lung Association, 2020).
There are two types of Pneumonia, namely, community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) and hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP). Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) Furthermore, hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP) is often associated with a negative outcome and prolonged antibiotic therapy (Liang et al., 2021). CAP is a major cause of hospital admission and death globally. In the United States, the economic burden of CAP is greater than $17 billion per year (Postma et al., 2015, as cited in Czarnowski et al., 2020). Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumonia (pneumococcus), Klebsiella Pneumoniae, Mycoplasma spp., Staphylococcus aureus can cause community-acquired pneumonia (Rosenthal
