The purpose of this assignment is to enable you to clarify your own viewpoints

The purpose of this assignment is to enable you to clarify your own viewpoints about the meaning of life and to confront potential challenges to your views.
This activity supports the following unit objective:
Discriminate between knowledge and belief.
Distinguish between objective and subjective arguments for religious belief.
Tasks
Choose two of your philosophers and explain their theories on the meaning of life.  Give the logical arguments for each theory and explain the outcomes of these theories.  How do the arguments differ and how does each inform one’s view on the meaning of life? Do NOT give your opinion.  Focus on the experts and their logical reasoning.
Making Connections
How would Socrates and Russell have responded to this question?
Consider the materials on cultural relativism in our unit on ethics. Do people across cultures hold the same beliefs about God and religion? How does religious belief compare to other beliefs in this respect? How might this impact your approach to these issues or to your own beliefs?
