Throughout the semester, students are asked to complete “demo” essays. The purpose of these assignments is to demonstrate comprehension of assigned content, capacity to discuss and navigate key points within lesson plans, and ability to critically apply course material to real-world examples. These serve as “checks-on-learning” that assess progression toward learning outcomes during specified periods of instruction. Given this, students must draw from, discuss, and apply respective lesson plan material to provided prompts. Submitted work must include citation and reference to the lesson plan materials being used.
For this demo essay, please provide a response to the following prompt: As the final writing prompt for the course, please identify any topic, issue, or trend that was covered during class. Discuss your attitude, opinion, or thoughts on this topic prior to taking the course. Briefly outline relevant material covered in the course concerning your chosen topic. Discuss whether the course and this material supported, changed, or had little impact on your prior position.
Demo essays should be approximately 500-700 words in length (approximately 2 double-spaced pages), not including front end material or referencing. Further, all work must be in APA formatting, typed with 12-point Times New Roman font, and double spaced. As always, your work should be well-structured, comprehensive in nature, include citations/proper referencing, and free of major spelling/grammatical issues. Demo essays are due by Sunday at 11:59pm, worth 20 points, and will be graded using the following rubric:
