Psychology Discussion Topics: Week Four
Choose an area of applied psychology that interests you (school psychology, I/O psychology, forensic psychology, applied behavioral analysis, or clinical or psychotherapy).
Then, for your initial post, choose one of the following options. In your subject line, state the option you have chosen. Feel free to embed pictures with your post.
Option 1: Just Say Neigh? Animal PsychologyFind a picture that represents animal psychology to you. Save it to your computer. In your post, do the following:
Embed the picture you have found. The icon to embed a picture is on the lower left-hand side of the discussion editor tool bar, just to the right of the paperclip icon.
Define what animal psychology is.
Describe the historical development of animal psychology.
Discuss one area of the field’s history that interested you and why it caught your attention.
Option 2: Psychology in Action: Areas of Applied PsychologyFind a picture that represents the area of applied psychology you have chosen. Save it to your computer. In your post, do the following:
Embed the picture you have found. The icon to embed a picture is on the lower left-hand side of the discussion editor tool bar, just to the right of the paperclip icon.
Describe the historical events and cultural need that led to its creation.
Describe the early work in the field.
Discuss one area of the field’s history that interested you and why it caught your attention.
Option 3: Dealer’s ChoiceChoose something you read about this week in this class (an idea, a person, or an event) and share more about it:
What was it? Summarize the piece that interested you.
Why did it interest you?
Explain how you might use this new knowledge.
Option 4: Crowdsourcing for Your AssignmentFind one scholarly article on the history of the area of applied psychology that interests you. Then, in your post, do the following:
Attach the article as a PDF or include the link.You can use these resources on your assignment next week.

Summarize your article in one paragraph.
Describe the aspects of the article that are most useful to you.
What questions do you still have about the development of this area of applied psychology?
