Use the textbook to help guide you in choosing a young adult author (one that we are not reading as part of this class; feel free to choose an author that you will read in your final project).
Research that author and their works using some of the following tools:
Visit the author’s and/or publisher’s website
Visit http://www.adlit.org/authors/
Use YALSA website
Use the Children’s Literature Comprehensive Database in the GCU Library
Follow the author on Twitter or Facebook
Locate interviews with the author on YouTube and other media websites
Write a 750-900-word paper about the author including the following information:
A brief biography of the author
A short summary of the work(s) the author is best known for
An overview of some basic themes that the author deals with in his or her work
An analysis of how the author views his or her role as a young adult author or his or her perspective on young adult literature in general.
A discussion of how the author’s works bring value to an English classroom or why students might enjoy reading the author’s works.
