Week 6 Debate ACTIVITY

In section II, Sullivan lists examples that could be a result of hate or of something else.
Briefly identify each scenario (e.g. the dispute with the gay neighbor) in 2 – 3 sentences. (Hint: there are 3 scenarios)
Then make a brief case for whether each of these scenarios are a result of hate or of something else.
As you support your answer, offer concrete evidence and/or textual support to bolster your findings from Sullivan’s text.

After you have submitted your initial post, reply to at least two of your classmates’ posts, preferably one whose position differs from yours, in one to two short paragraphs. Comment on the post and offer a reaction. The idea is not to prove their argument is wrong or your argument is better than theirs. It is my hope we engage in meaningful dialogue so that we can foster a rich discussion about the texts. Avoid replies that “like” or simply “agree” with a student’s post, for these types of replies do not move the dialogue forward in a meaningful way.
