Download the Excel file “Assignment 2 excel” under ‘Week 11’. Use the Excel spreadsheet and this Word document to answer the following questions. Turn in both files to Canvas.
‘Sheet1’ shows a sample of 10 countries and their happiness index collected “World Happiness Report” in 2017.
Fill in the empty cells and calculate the z-score for each country’s happiness index. Don’t forget to utilize the $ sign as needed. (3 pts)
What is the z-score for Norway, and how would you interpret that number? (3 pts)
Z-score = 0.874, This means that Norway’s happiness index is performing better than the average, but not drastically higher.
‘Sheet2’ shows the data for all 140 countries (population). Suppose you take a sample of countries classified as “Central and Eastern Europe” region and test whether they have higher level of happiness than the rest of the countries (You can use the arrows in the first row to list the countries in the order of each variable). Conduct the one-sample z-test (Week 6).

‘Sheet3’ shows data for employees’ work performance before and after a new technology was implemented in their workplace. Use the Data Analysis ToolPak to conduct a t-test for dependent samples (Week 7). Conduct the ‘t-test: Paired Two Sample for Means’ in ‘Data Analysis’ under the ‘Data’ tab. Set ‘Alpha’ as 0.05 and ‘Output Range’ as ‘E2’ (or anywhere else you would like). (5 pts)
What is your test statistic value? (1 pt)
Under a one-tailed test, can you conclude that the new technology has improved employees’ work performance? Why or why not? (5 pts)
Under a two-tailed test, can you conclude that the new technology has improved employees’ work performance? Explain. (3 pts)
