How CSR Managers Can Inspire Other Leaders to Act on Sustainability Source: Harvard Business Review By: Christopher Wickert and Frank G.A. de Bakker, January 10, 2019 I chose this article because it speaks to the purpose of corporate social responsibility and how CSR managers can implement that drive towards sustainability by employing certain strategies to get middle-managers and others in their company to prioritize sustainability. In this article they talk about how putting CSR practices into play requires both managers and employees to be on board and on the same page. However, this is difficult because many middle-managers have not realized the the importance of CSR; therefore there is a lack of motivation and interest. This article has identified four different tactics that managers have found to be most effective when trying to mobilize others.Those tactics are: Build a network of internal allies Make sustainability resonate Identify adequate incentives Use external and internal benchmarking Overall, this article made it well known that corporate social responsibility is more than just the individual effort of a CSR manager. Walgreens Boots Alliance Attachment As I have been searching for CSR in the news, I finally found something that was beyond interesting to me. I learned today that Walgreen’s Boots Alliance, which is comprised of various retail and business brands that makes up this international company . It is the first global pharmacy led, health and wellness enterprise. I was beyond fascinated with the fact that Walgreen’s was apart of this global business and it is even ranked on Forbes magazine’s 2019 list of Worlds Most Admired Companies. In the article attached, it was noted that the Walgreens Boots Alliance released a new corporate social responsibility report which showcased the company’s amazing efforts in promoting their CSR.
