Figure 1: World Terrorism Incidents and Fatalities Map

Analysis of the distribution of terrorism/incidents and fatalities throughout the world

Regions/countries reporting higher number of terrorisms also experience high fatality rate. This is well evident on the map in northern parts of Africa, Europe and India. 128 countries experienced at least one incident while 95 them experienced at least one fatality. This explains a relationship between the two variables, which is well communicated in the map whereby countries with higher incidents of terrorism also report higher number of fatality. There is higher concentration of both incidents and fatality within the regions of Africa, Europe and India. More than 15 countries have experienced significantly more fatalities than incidents. This suggest that most of the incidents and fatalities in these countries are associated with violence and death of either victims or suspects.
