Helminth infections Prompt: (CASE STUDY)
This discussion board is a continuation of the clinical application of microbiology.
Your instructor will assign a specific helminth associated disease to each of you. You need to write a case study associated with the disease, following guidelines given below.You will be using fictitious patients-you are making this case up.
Each one of you will be assigned to one of the following diseases- Enterobiasis, Strongyloidiasis, Trichuriasis, Trichinosis,Schistosomiasis,Taeniasis, Ascariasis,Anisakiasis or Cutaneous Larval Migrans
Instructions
In your case study, provide an introduction to your patient-include name, age, social status.Describe the patient’s medical history of the present illness and the chief presenting complaint(clinical presentation).Describe how you would diagnose this illness-what additional symptoms would you look for, what diagnostic tests you will do, your expected findings and the subsequent treatment and prognosis. Create a list of at least four other differential diagnoses.
Once you have completed your case study,under your case-study text, describe the classification of the helminth associated with the assigned disease,describe the most common modes of transmission,life cycle,virulence factors,epidemiology,and prevention.
Your case study must be a minimum of 600 words long board.
Part One: submit your case study in your discussion board prompt latest by Thursday by 11:59pm CST.
