This essay is broken down into four assignments: prewriting (to generate our ideas), drafting (to articulate our ideas), peer reviewing (to understand if the essay’s intentions are interpreted correctly by the reader), and final drafting (the finished product). Please note, each assignment has it’s own Dropbox over the next two weeks.
The first assignment is the prewriting, and additional insight on completing the assignment is below:
GENERATING IDEAS: The responses to Part 1 will set the goals and expectations for our essay by addressing its ultimate purpose, audience, tone, and point of view. These goals and expectations will help us prepare for the essay’s introduction, thesis, three body paragraphs, and conclusion.
BRAINSTORMING IDEAS: The responses to Part 2 will be a record of all the ideas we have about the essay’s topic and research.
ORGANIZING IDEAS: The responses to Part 3: Organizing Ideas and Part 4: Structuring Ideas will be the same. The reason is because Part 3 allows us to visually prepare for our essay by seeing the introduction, three body paragraphs, and conclusion. Meanwhile, Part 4 allows us to sequentially prepare for our essay.
STRUCTURING IDEAS: Part 4 is coded and will prepare us to code our drafts and finals. We will use this code to ensure we have all the necessary elements to have a well-rounded and successful introduction, three body paragraphs, and conclusion within our essays.
